Maintenance FAQs

Q. I have a problem with my fence and I don't know what to do.
A. Call us and we'll discuss the situation, make recommendations or come and fix the problem. DO NOT leave it! Criminals know when fences are not working and will confidently break in.

Q. How do I repair my electric security fence energiser unit?
A. Please DO NOT attempt to repair the energiser unit yourself. Any repair you carry out will void both our and the manufacturers warranty. Please call us and we'll take care of the problem.

Q. My fence is making cracking noises.
A. The fence is arching out. Walk along the fence line and check there is no metal touching the electric security fence wires. At the same time get rid of any rubbish or vegetation that is on the fence line. If you can't find the problem call us and we'll come and sort it out.

Q. How do I know if my fence is working?
A. If you're not too sure give us a call and we'll come and show you how to safely ensure your fence is working. We will give you free training to make sure your property is secure every night.

Q. The alarm keeps going off.
A. Try turning the unit off and then back on. If the problem persists give us a call to sort it out.

Q. A truck has backed into/swiped the electric security fence, is it ok?
A. Check for damage to the black plastic insulators. If they are broken we will come and replace them. You can on-bill the trucking company. If the posts are bent, wires are loose or touching, call us immediately and we will come and fix the fence. Again DO NOT delay! There are a lot of 'inside jobs' that result form this kind of damage.

Q. What is the best way to maintain my electric security fence and ensure it is always working effectively?
A. Have your fence inspected and tested by ESFL at least twice per year. Enrolling in our Programmed Maintenance Plan will save you an estimated $30,000 in reactive repairs and time. The number is closer to $300,000 if you are burgled and your fence was not working. Insurance companies will "complicate" your claim if your fence was found to be unserviceable. DO NOT take that risk!

Q. Can I hook it up to a 240volt power supply?
A. No. It'll already give a nasty shock.

Q. We intend to turns off the mains power for a while. What will happen to the fence?
A. Call us and we will advise you. The battery will last for a while but it's best not to rely on it.

Q. Someone has smashed his or her car/truck/Bongo van through my fence. What shall I do?
A. Call us and we'll be there within 24 hours to fix it. Keep their keys and the car so you can get your money back from them!
